Wow, fabulous job of freezing the action in the jump compositions. Beautifully done, Don.

Was shooting between 1/1000 and 1/1250 sec shutter speed Joe. Was also shooting on high frame rate (6-7) shots per second. Like I said, first time shooting this event and did not know what to expect but I am satisfied with the finished product.
Thank you for the kind comment.

Good shooting, Don. Getting good, sharp images in that environment is not easy.

Glad you liked them Tom. High frame rate and shutter speed help out. Aperture was 4.5 to 5.6 if I remember right and I am satisfied on the focus.

Very nice pictures. Show jumping is a great sport and one I loved to shoot (although it wasn't what I did the most). Catching the horse AND rider in that perfect moment is no easy task. And I always was disappointed in the backgrounds, as they are frequently quite busy.

I am satisfied, for the most part, with the backgrounds in these, don't think they are to busy. Shooting at 4.5 - 5.6 probably helped with this. Wanted to keep the ISO somewhat low, 125 to 200 if I remember correctly, so this helped with the aperture settings.
I am glad you liked them Kathy. Will be posting more soon.

Great shots. I like the Hunter-Jumpers and really like the shots made at the height of the jump. Absolutely LOVE that you got the 3/4 angle on most of these. Looks so much better than a profile shot when jumping. Nice work.

You could make a lot of $ doing hunter jumper shows Don. Those people have big bucks and they beg for good pictures of them jumping and even just good head shots of them with their horse. I know this for a fact. Many of the owners have from 1 to as many as 12 horses in training at a time. I think their training bills are much higher than Walking horse training but walking horses...$800 to $1500 a month per horse. The pay well for pictures.

Thanks for a great idea Jo. Might look into the opportunity.
