Most of you know that I love horse, raised and showed them for many years and as an artist, most of my customers are horse lovers. Well, I love to paint horses but for some reason that I can't begin to understand, I don't like to photograph horses. Maybe it's because a very dear friend of mine is such a great Equine photographer that I know I couldn't get anywhere near what she does.

I'm not sure if this should be in the gallery or elsewhere but I am sure that Admin will move it if it's in the wrong place.

I wanted to show you a few of her photos. The last on is her FB cover photo. For many years she did stallion poses for horse breeders to use to advertise their stallions. She now does some of her work at horse shows. If any of you want to see more of her work, https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100069194404297

I too love horses but could never afford to own or keep one.

Personally, I don't understand the purpose of the poses shown above. What are they supposed to showcase about the horse? The position looks like unnatural and a forced one and appears it would be uncomfortable to the horse. Please explain.

I'm with Stan. A fine set but I don't get the poses. None of my horses ever stood like that

Stan, I explained that these are "Stallion poses". The owners use these photos as advertisements to show the beauty of the world champions so that mare owners might decide which world champion they want to take their mare to to raise foals.

Thank you Don. PJ is very good at what she does. They are perfect when she snaps that pose.

If you are in the business of raising them, you want the best foals you can get to bring the highest bid when you sell them.

Thanks for sharing, Jo. I'll confess the only thing I know about horses is that I can tell that is what it is when I see one. These images suggest that there is a lot more involved in preparation (?) and training (?) before they can get to such poses. When something looks so straight forward, there is usually more that is not seen; especially to the uneducated.

Thanks Chance. You are right. A lot goes into training, grooming to perfection and showing long before these horses become World champions. That's good observation for someone who hasn't been around horses a lot.

Thank you Barbara. No, she photographs all breeds but these are all Tennessee Walking horses.
