My computer just died. Lost power and will not charge up. I now am trying to use my new one but, when i download raw the computer says to change it to jpeg to work on the picture. also i cannot upload them to light room. I tried to make sure lightroom 3 has the latest updates and tried to up load software from Adobe. I had this proble, before and thought i uploaded some software called codex or something like that. I have checked past topics and serched the web before i came looking for help here, you folks are my last resort tonight. Thanks Mike

What is new operating system. Is is compatible with your old one. Windows or Mac. Etc.

Hi Jack. Yes it is the same as my old one Windows Explorer. I did have the same problem but don't remember how it was fixed. I thought i had to download something called Codex or something like that.

What computer and operating system?
What model camera?
Are you simply copying the images onto your hard drive, or are you bringing them into a processing program?

If you want to preview your photos in Windows Explorer you need to download the appropriate RAW codec from your camera's website.

For a Nikon this is the link to the NEF codec download:
