When Simple isn't Simple

My son and a friend each have blue Honda Fits. I wanted to make a dry snow globe for each with a blue Fit inside. The smallest Fit I could find was a light blue 1/64 from China, and I bought large enough globes for the cars. Painting the car dark blue didn't turn out well, so I ordered two more cars from China - both dark blue.

Although I could just about get the car into the globe, there wasn't really room for anything else. Scratch the globe. Then I found plastic display cases that would be perfect - sort of. I still want to add 1/64 items to the plastic case, but most are too large, and I would have to get a larger case. Buying a larger case and bits of "furniture" for it would raise the price to ridiculous levels - like close to $100.

There is no such thing as a simple job.

Interesting dilemma. Made me think 'when simple doesn't Fit.'

I'm not giving up on this, but I have to match the display case and the stuff I put inside it.

Maybe you can find a Honda Fit that is HO model train gauge which is 1/87 scale, smaller than 1/64. If so there would be a lot of other things you could get for it that you could stuff in the globe like buildings, train trestles, landscape materials, trees, people, etc. You could make a regular diorama to go in the globe. Just a thought.

I already ordered two 1/64. I didn't know what scale the HO size was. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks. There are cheap 3-D printed items for sale online, but the seller says that they look like they were printed, and I would have to paint them. I came up with a solution (below). I have street signs and shrubs that will go with that. I think I'm all set now.

With the bolts, I was referring to another project - putting a trailer hitch on a garden cart. Pictures to follow. I'd like to put a similar hitch on a large leaf vac, but that would be a bit more complicated.

Okay. It will be a week or more before the display case arrives. The cars are coming from China, so who knows?

Every “simple” job is just a bunch of other jobs in a trench coat…

What is the correlation between a Fit and furniture? Maybe just add a dog or cat -- something one might carry in a Fit.
