I didn't want to hijack your post about the Quaker Parrot just to show you some of the birds I have had over the years. The Parottlet, smallest Parrot in the word is in the middle, bottom.
I still have the Quaker. All were great talkers and the Canary was a great singer. The largest, the Blue Fronted Amazon died in my house fire in 1987.

Jack. I was born into a family that raised Canaries and Boston Terriers. I've never been without a bird or a dog. At one time, when we lived in the country I had 4 birds and 3 dogs. Most of the time 1 or 2 birds, just one now. Most of the time 2 dogs...just one now. I once raised Finches. I had white, chestnut flanked Zebra Finches, some Cordon Bleu Finches, some Raspberry Finches, Society Finches, several kinds of ducks, chickens and geese and Fantail Pigeons. (and 77 horses)

The only pets we ever had were a successive couple of parakeets. And they actually belonged to our daughter. Since we went away so often and for so long, keeping dogs or cats was impossible as, kennels, for us, were out of the question.

The birds we would give to my mother to babysit. As long as she fed and uncaged them, they didn't seem to care one little bit.

Parakeets are sweet little birds and beautiful!
My bird is crazy. I don't know where she learns things that we never taught her. She says "Look, the cat. The kitty cat. She never saw a cat. She says "I want a potato". Birds are not supposed to have potatoes. She has no idea what one is. If you don't answer her, she then says she wants a backed potato. No, I didn't spell that wrong. I thinks she means baked. She calls me Mimi and says "where's Mimi" about 50 times a day. Often, I am right beside her when she calls me. Sometimes she just calls my name and when I ask "what"...that's wrong. She corrects me and says "What Kiwi?" That's how you are supposed to answer her. Just "what?" won't do. She calls Joe and when he doesn't answer, she cries like a newborn baby. Birds are far smarter than people think.

Thank you. Over the years I have had 3 Cockatiels. One just had to be on my granddaughter every minute she was around. He adored her, so I let her have him. He was a good talker and could whistle a few songs. The white on in the picture was a rescue. He was at the home of a breeder when I went to buy another one for my granddaughters. He was 7 weeks old and dying. The breeder said she didn't know what to do to help him. I told her I was pretty sure I could save him. She gave him to me. I had him well in an hour. He was blind but the happiest little bird I have ever seen. He called himself "Itty bitty baby birdie". He knew his way around his cage like a pro but couldn't be turned out to fly, so I took him out 3 times a day and let him climb on me
