Yesterday afternoon I retried a spot by the pond that has provided some good bird photo in the past.
It didnt this time. Other that a limping female Redwinged Blackbird, who walked down the hill, foraged around the pond edge, then walked, literally, into my hide then cozied up next to my foot, I didnt see a subject to photograph.
After an hour of nada I decided to go back to the woodpile. I packed everything up and made the long and arduous hike into the woods. (150 yds?, ;)
It didnt take long and the Winter Wren was chattering away in the broken down dead cedar tree beside me. Wrong angle and to close to focus on (6' )
Before the Winter Wren was finished the scolding Mr and Mrs Carolina Wren zoomed in to inspect me and my gear. One of them landed on my shoulder bag and had it been open Im sure he or she would have climbed in looking for a snack. (Hint, Im going to work for this photo idea)
This is Mr Carolina Wren proclaming his ownership of the woodpile.
He is about 20' from me. Its very dark but I am pio t towards the setting sun which is well below the horizon of the hill before me.
The image is cropped just a bit to improve framing.
Canon 7dii Tamron 150-600 g2 @ 552mm

Great shot. They sure can make a lot of noise for such a small bird. Gotta love ‘em.
That is one great Wren shot

Thank you very much Jack. I couldn't be much happier with it.
What a great photo Bill. I love the Wrens. They are such cute, sassy little things Had one that nested in my ferns and wreath on the door for years. She flew into the house 3 times, landed on my arm once and chewed me out for being there!!!
