Golden hour, on the siding just west of Gilman, Indiana (east of Alexandria).

What is the most interesting to me here is that I don't believe I have ever seen railroad cars with consecutive numbers before. Seen here are two through five, but the entire sequence ran one through ten. I have been watching trains on this track and others for as many of my eighty-one years as I can remember, but this is a first.

This photo is also posted the the Trains section.

Wonderful image, John. The cars look so pristine, I’m wondering if the consecutive numbering is a result of this being their maiden voyage.

Those are Side Discharge Ballast Cars. Could be a newer set that has not been split up yet ( as they all work , as intended ).

John, these hopper cars are MOW equipment. They are used in track replacement or laying new track. These are side dump hoppers which carry ballast or small rocks that are laid on top of the Railroad ties to hold the track from bouncing under the load weight of the train.
