The day before yesterday, 11/7/23 I decided to try the woodpile in the late afternoon. It's normally dark and shadowy there but since the time change and the sun we'll past overhead it was much darker than I anticapated. At first I thought all the birds had turned in for the night. Then the little Winter Wren arrived like a iet propelled shadow. This cute little ball of energy seems to need to sing. The spot where it is standing is the highest point on the woodpile.
The Carolina Wren soon accepted the song challenge and began letting the entire wood know who is really the song king of the pile, then just as quickly it switched its attention to finding dinner.
The Carolina Wrens are here in Delaware year round.
The Winter Wrens are Norther birds who comes south for the winter. Their nonbreeding range covers everything South of the Greatlakes as far South as Texas, from the Atlantic to Central USA . They nest North of the Great lakes, some as far North as Southern Alaska.
Both are great shots Bill. Cute wrens

You handled the low-light very well!
Wrens are such wonderful creatures. They are everywhere, and they sing almost constantly.

Thank you Ken,
It seems me and the wrens have come to an understanding, as long as I sit quietly the shadows.
