There was always that controversy as to which came first? Here is a new one that is just down our alley.

Try to mentally picture coating the glass wet plates just prior to exposure. You would need buckets of collodian. And who made sheets of glass that huge in the first place ?

And speaking of glass, for the requisite FL the f/stop must be well up into triple digits. Kinda weird that the lens has been deleted from the image. 19th century National Security Secret ?

I’m pretty sure that was the point. If it was the world’s first camera who took the photo of it?

Very bad post, the guy by the lens built it in 1899-1900. Long after the first camera was made.
FAKE NEWS.
Yet another example of a BAD POST.
Please go away and bother someone else.

Again missing the point. He wasn’t posting it as true. He was posting it because the included comment made a funny observation. If that was the first camera, what took the photo of it?

Maybe it was a Canon or a Sony Pro lens. 😜🤪

Some don't understand that this is supposed to be tongue in cheek. A joke.

But if you know it isn't the first camera, it kind of ruins the joke.

That camera if it even is a real photograph came long after the first few cameras. There are some good books about the history of photography out there.

To answer the Title Question about the Chicken & Egg, I would say The Dinosaur.

Not really, since the joke is based on the idea that it wasn’t really the first camera.
