Evil Cameras

Yes, this does belong in Chit-Chat.

I watched a movie last night, "Polaroid," about an evil camera, a Polaroid SX-70. If someone's picture was taken with it, that person was killed by an evil spirit. I've seen several other horror movies involving evil cameras. I wonder if someone has an agenda.

One odd thing about this movie was the darkness - as in lack of light. Even in the police station, there was only one little light lit. Almost every scene was lacking in lighting. Darkness is a common feature of horror movies, but in a diner and a police station? Anyway, "Polaroid" is a decent horror movie, in case you're looking for one.

It's on Tubi for free. I just watched the beginning and yes they took picture in the dark and the camera flashed (there is no flash but the camera flashed). It's the original version of the SX-70 with tan leatherette.

My dad had one of those original SX-70.

Glad I survived having my pictures taken with it.

I have both that original model as well as the newer model with AF and built in flash. I used to used the newer AF with the sonar AF to take picture in total darkness. The camera would focus fine without any light then it fires the flash to take the picture.

I sold my SX-70, but I still have the basic model, although I doubt I'll ever buy film for it.

I never sold my SX-70 nor broke them but I don't where they've gone. I don't have them any more. They were quite expensive around $200 in the late 70's.

I started with a canon AE 1 and have always had canons.i noticed my first death about a year after I took my wife's cousin's close up picture.i blew up the pic to an 8x10 and had it framed and presented it to my wife's aunt a month later for mother's day.she had no close ups of him.the next one was a blue angles pilot who I had seen signing the brochure for my oldest son who is now 46 years old.He too had been photographed at very close range by me.the list has kept on going from my mother in law to my mom, brother in laws, very close friends, and co workers who died earlier than expected.my last one passed away about 4 months ago .all these have been photographed at close ups.imagine if you will taking someone's pic with a 50 mm lens about 3 ft away.my wife thinks it's a little creepy. My list is probably 100 people long and I have given away lots of pics to loved ones.one of them was another co worker who never liked his pic taken and we were at a company dinner and he was smiling and have a great time when I took a perfect close up of him.i gave his wife 3 8x10s .one was for her and his 2 grown daughters.
