Any fans of The Warning rock band here?

My musical tastes tend towards classical, jazz, blues, rock-and-roll, rock, hard rock, folk, metal, trance, and both NC and West Coast bluegrass. Recently, while watching a reaction video of some college kids hearing 1970s YES music for the first time, a suggestion popped up in my feed for a song by The Warning.

IF you are a rock fan, read on. If you liked Heart, back in the '70s, or Pat Benatar in the '80s, read on:

The Warning are a trio of sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. Today, they are in their late teens and early twenties. The oldest two started playing piano at three and five. BUT, all three have been playing professionally for many years, now. Amazingly, they grew up bi-lingual, attending a Catholic school in Monterrey. So most of their original songs are in English. I would describe their sound as hard rock, bordering on heavy metal, but very dynamic, with everything from angsty ballads to full on head banging thrash metal. For three Mexican kids who have written a double album, a single album, and an EP, all in English before 2022, they have quite a catalog.

The Warning blew up the Internet with a "cute kid cover" of Metallica's Enter Sandman in 2014: https://youtu.be/1boUYB9LFJY?si=yLVnjs1Wo3LYEI7Z

That went viral. It has over 25 MILLION viewings to date. Ellen Degeneres saw it and had them perform on her show, then teamed up with Target to send them to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, for a summer session.

Six years ago, they made this Ted Talk at the University of Nevada: https://youtu.be/pj5ue3M-v6o?si=chkEL50VgLH041FT They performed a couple of songs there, and told their story. They were *very* poised and insightful. They seemingly have no fear.

Two years ago, Metallica invited them to perform a tribute version of Enter Sandman on their "Blacklist" album, in collaboration with Canadian artist, Alessia Cara:

Here's a version of Enter Sandman that they performed live at the concert listed below: https://youtu.be/vg9vNE7gm0I?si=bt-2r-JcjJ0iQFy6

In August, 2022, they sold out two shows in Mexico City, later releasing this FANTASTIC concert video of them:

https://youtu.be/7hbBa1-1p7M?si=WXsGgxEGJXYfsPgA

Paulina ("Pau" pronounced "POW") is their drummer. She whacked the proverbial crap out of her kit at that concert... for nearly two hours, non-stop.

The Warning have toured the USA, Canada, parts of the UK and Germany, Chile and Argentina, and more. Their personal success story is fascinating and inspiring. Their music is polished. This is a KICK ASS band that has performed hundreds of gigs live, opening for Guns & Roses, Halestorm, and other rock acts. They've sold out their own concerts several times, performed at festivals of 50,000+, and were recently part of the Video Music Awards on MTV. Their two crazy performances there were "one take wonders." Those two performances flabbergasted the MTV staff:

"MORE" https://youtu.be/cZWSDsDsbZU?si=fC3DEv9FKF6EXrOr and "EVOLVE" https://youtu.be/97Pxe9KTgJc?si=VZ_Q8I5yGDKzwuZW

I don't know when I've heard such an amazingly talented, polished, or determined group of young musicians, song writers, and performers. This is a band that sounds as good or better live than they do in the studio (they tend to agree). They are the real deal.

Dany, the lead guitarist and one of two lead singers, has been given two brand new custom guitars by veteran rock performers that The Warning opened for on various tours. SpectorBass, an instrument company, made a custom five string bass guitar for Alejandra, with the band logo inlaid on the neck. That's how much respect these ladies have in the industry.

Enjoy!

Their August, 2022, concert in Teatro Metropolitan, Mexico City, has absolutely headphone-worthy, high quality audio and video work on it. "Revenant" is a quiet instrumental ballad from that, featuring their drummer Pau on vocals (without the drums). It shows a completely different side of their work from the mostly head-banging rest of the concert.

Their "official" studio music video of the single, "Evolve" was made with 16 iPhones and a drone (plus studio audio). I've done enough video editing in my life to know what a feat it was. The performance took a couple of hours, but the editing and synchronization to the master audio track probably took days. It is bone-chillingly well done.

The Warning say they play in the studio as if they are playing live, because so many fans have told them they sound better live than on record. They say the crowd reactions have a lot to do with their energy levels. They feed off of the crowd, as much as the crowd feeds off of them. That was evident in their VMA performance of Evolve that I linked earlier.

The biting sarcasm in the song, "Kool-Aid Kids," is a powerful message about social media's effects on modern life. Lyric video here:

Well, that "Mad" was some serious mix of Django influenced flapper music with Fantasia inspired graphic fantasies involving obnoxious bugs! Hilarious. I have to wonder, which came first, the animation, or the music?

Greta Van Fleet uses the same record label as The Warning. Interesting sound.

My guess is the animation was made for the music...it doesn't look like something pulled off a rack
