The backlighting was yummy. Primary edit is Topaz Studio 2 filter, "Swirly strokes" at 30 percent opacity. Feedback welcomed!
btw, those durned ducks wouldn't lift their heads; they were too busy skimming the water for breakfast

Great capture and processing! The misty trails off the water and the vapor coming together as a small cloud that raises its head toward the top of the hill. Even the ducks are moving to their own timeline. 👍

Thanks so much, Bob!
One of the joys of sharing photos is the interpretations or insights others bring that I may not have considered at all, or if I did, it was deep in my subsconscious
Beautiful work Linda. It reminds me of many mornings when I was young, sitting in a duck blind waiting for those birds to fly toward me. Ah, better more innocent times
I’m not going to be popular - but I just don’t like the bright water and the ducks Linda! The bright area is far too eye-catching (and landscapes are better with a touch of vignette along the top and bottom - as per Jesus Ramirez training about ten years ago, if you follow him). Chop ‘em out, start the bottom of the frame with the silhouetted trees and shrubs and you have something very pleasing to the eye. You can still add a little misty vapour but keep it subtle. The valley mist is fine and, surprisingly, so are the striations. Did these arise from low colour gamut or the Topaz effect? Whichever, they look fine and you have a superb image. So I’m redeemed? But I would like the hint of red light in the sky to match the valley mist a little more🥴.
Indeed a beautiful mystic morning mood setter for warm coffee from the thermos as one waits for a good shot of the sunrise and hill in the background. Great photo
