but I finally got home. It wasn't really a photo trip, but what trip isn't a photo trip with us? I was too early in most places for fall colour, but I found some interesting scenes.

Neat shots. That tree looks like the Canyon maples we have around here. I know they occur in SE AZ.

I zoomed in and while fuzzy, the leaves appear to be red maple, a non-native that has beautiful red fall color. The leaves tend to be a fair bit smaller than native black or sugar maples. Here in Missouri sugar maples tend to have mostly yellow or orange leaves. Although the dark red leaves I have on my fall colors post are native silver maple, which are generally yellow so there are always exceptions.

Thanks. I took this picture in central Illinois, but it still may be some type of maple.

Does it make a difference that this was shot in Illinois?
