Lots of "Grass." Nowhere to Sell

The cannabis growers have a bumper crop, but they have to wait for the state to license more shops to sell it. I wonder what will happen to all that marijuana if the state doesn't approve stores. Will it just rot in warehouses? 🤣

In New Mexico, there are so many dispensaries that the owners re asking the government to stop issuing licenses since they are just now discovering the magic of the free market...excess supply leads to lower prices...

Jerry!

Here in midtown Manhattan, NYC, the cannabis stores are proliferating so much that they seem to be on every other block!

Let's see if these businesses can thrive legally. Also, these stores attract robberies! I wonder why!

Be well! Ed

They attract robberies because while the states say it is a bona fide business...the federal banking system won't touch them...so they have to sit on a lot of cash.

Find a problem? Scratch the surface a bit...you'll find your own govt. looking back at you.

I wish Massachusetts would follow suit. My friend on the Cape has to drive almost an hour to the nearest state-licensed dispensary and the cost of everything is astronomical. Mass rigidly controls licenses and issues only a few, here and there, so as you said, the free market magic of minimal supply leads to higher prices in this case.

Sneak it in to California. Seems new shops are opening all the time. Not that I even touch the stuff. CBD Oil for my Dogs only.

Sorry, I disagree with the owners. I think the state should continue to approve licenses as fast as they can. Let the market sort itself out. When it is no longer viable to open new stores the applications will slow down, then stop on their own. Then the stores that are on shaky financial ground will close leaving the stronger, more well-established stores to supply the demand. The herd will eventually thin itself out and the remainder will be stronger for it.

So far all the words on markets I am assuming the open or legal market is what is assumed. Here where the product has been legal for some time most long time users ( think over 10 years ) I know don't buy from the stores due to higher prices and inconsistent product quality.
They still use and prefer what is called the black market for lower prices and consistent quality.
Of course in some states I guess there is no black market. Haha.
