Anyone upgraded or bought-in? I have the 2023 version, it's not my primary editing software but comes in handy for a few things...wondering if the newest offers that much more?

Available in 8 days. I've been an ON1 user for years as an adjunct to Lightroom Classic. With this latest upgrade called ON1 Max, I'm finally migrating fully to it. Great stuff they are doing which, in turn, prompts folks like Adobe to speed up their improvements.

Yes I have it, love it, use as my primary for Raw processing. And yes (IMO) Now is the time to get ON1. I also highly recommend, (Not that you asked for my recommendations) Photo Shop Elements.

Thanks,
Boone.

...thanks for the response, Boone. I've been a PS/LR user for as long as they've been around,so will pass on the PS Elements recommendation. What I'm asking is, if users see good improvement in ON! between the '23 and '24 versions (where I've been using ON! '23 as a plug-in).

...how do you plan on migrating your lightroom cataloging? I'm interested in an academic sense, I've no plan to dump the LR/PS combo anytime soon.

I am a former PS/LR user who migrated wholly to ON1 several years ago and have pre-ordered the 2024 edition. My take: they are very customer oriented, help is focused and prompt, I like the approach using "AI" available to save initial time editing and fully adjustable and flexible to apply styling using presets or individual slider/layers, etc. to my desires/needs. Try it for a month and see if you like the approach and depth. We have not seen the 2024 version yet (due in 8 days), but it looks like a significant new version (speed, user interface upgrades, Brilliance for AI overall editing setting up for user adjustments/styling). You don't have to subscribe, but may want to if you continue to use other programs in conjunction.

Total difference of ON1 of before and now. The "New version" of ON1 is worth a look, I believe it is super!!!

That of course, is just my personal opinion.

Thanks,
Boone

I’ve been using ON1 PR as my primary editor since 2017 and have updated each year. My only issue has been the hardware demands it makes on my “not so new” system. And initial introductions of new versions have not exactly been smooth. But, to ON1’s credit, they are relatively quick to correct issues. I committed to the 2024 edition when it was first offered and have my fingers crossed that promised speed improvements are available.

Keep an eye on system requirements for any of the latest photo processing software. As they incorporate more functions and deeper AI running behind them, there will be a point where a "not so new" computer will be a hindrance....

Well put... Version 2018.5 was a free upgrade to owners of 2018, but, for me, required I purchase a new GPU.

I moved to On1 when adobe went to SaaS pricing for a number of reasons. It remains my primary tool even though I teach Photoshop and Lightroom Classic plus have other apps like Affinity Photo, Neo. I am not upgrading Neo due to its greedy sales model (having to pay for extensions for features including in most apps for free). I am an On1 Pro member which is a grandfather level not available anymore. Watching the videos on 2024 I am a bit concerned that it will be hard for me to use the workflow Ive used for years. I guess I will know in 7 days. They have made significant changes to the UI to accommodate the Brilliance AI features.
