I get Hyper V to work with Windows 10 and 11 but I can't get the serial port to work. A lot of software I use need to use the serial port.

I’m just amazed you can find a MB that will run Win 10/11 that has an actual serial port (or are you using a USB to serial port adapter?). Can you see the serial port in control panel?

I have serial ports in PCIe slots. They are in the control panels and they do work under Windows 10/11. However, I can't get them to work with Hyper-V. I use Hyper-V to run DOS and Windows XP rather than swapping the hard drive to run them which they do work with my current PC. Both DOS and Windows XP run very well in the Hyper-V environment but I don't have the serial port.
To buy PC/motherboard that has serial ports just have to look at those made for industrial automation. These have a lot of ethernet ports and RS-232 (as well as RS-422) ports. Some have as many as 6 each.

Wish I could help, and I have run hyper V virtualization, but only using USB to serial port adapters, not native serial ports. Are the address and interrupt correct in control panel in hyper V, and are they the same as those when running Win 10/11? I’m wondering if you have an address or interrupt conflict with the native port assignment that was standard in DOS and XP.

I can use the USB to serial too. I don't really know how to map the serial port from Win 10/11 to hyper v. I used to use Virtual PC on Windows XP to run DOS and Windows 95 and I get the serial port OK. But with hyper v I really lost.
