Big Virginia Lake in the Eastern Sierra. Chilly at the 9800 ft. elevation, but full of trout.

That is beautiful. I have never been there. The closest to that area I've been is along Hwy 120. But I have been to the Little Lakes area at Rock Creek and Mosquito Flats. That is at 10,237 feet above sea level. Yikes, my heart could not take the thin air so I waited sitting in my car for most of the day for my wife to hike for many hours with my photography class. I got a few nice photo of Rock Creek near the parking lot. She got some wonderful photographs with my other camera and lens. I should have given her the better camera (16 vs 14 MP) and "pro" F2.8 16-50mm zoom lens instead of the "kit" F4.5-6.3 18-55mm zoom lens.

They must’ve stocked recently. We switched to lures, caught and released dozens of 12-15 inchers

Yes. Understood. I live at 900 ft. Big difference from the Sierras and 7,000+. Takes a while to get accustomed to it. Rock Creek and the Flats are beautiful.
