Although there are lots of jokes made about replacement body parts, it's almost science fiction what they can do today. I know so many people who have gotten knees and hips.

One unfortunate friend broke a hip about two years ago. The surgeons put in plates and screws. The screws were too long, and they caused her continuous pain. She eventually had two more surgeries to get it right. Now, she's fine - two years too late.

I have had both hips replaced and it was an experience. They replaced the worst one first and six months later they replaced the other one. Doing good so far. They are good for 15/20 years...K.A.N.

I was on a photo class weekend, and one of the participants was a doctor. He had both knees replaced, but they were done six months apart. He asked the surgeon why the waiting time. The surgeon said that if they were done closer together than six months, the payment would be much lower.

Must have something to do with medical insurance!
