Looking down during eclipse

So, my wife was hoping to capture a simple shot of today’s eclipse. We are by no means pros, and we live on a teacher’s salary, so we don’t get expensive gear often. We rigged up a box with a hole and some dollar store eclipse glasses. The results were so poor I’m not sharing here. BUT, while waiting for the full annular eclipse, I happened to notice a really neat effect I’d never noticed before. Eclipse bokeh, I guess it should be called. Below are two iPhone pics from roughly the same spot 30 minutes apart.
