AI is the near future for autofocus and autoexposure and wb. I hope not so much for bokeh and artificial dof.
I can imagine giving the camera a custom chatgpt prompt for say a fashion show: "follow right eye of the approaching model. briefly switch focus to head or backside when model turns away. pick up new model when nearer. choose exposure using the face of the subject model. follow predicted location of models head when objects cross, etc.
You could have similar prompts for following birds or planes or w/e.
Homerun - judicial use - clear couple subject. Little foreground untouched and landscape background perfect bokeh.
The new focusing tool in Lightroom is, as are others, a way to solve the problem of highlighting the chosen subject.
Will it always work? No. Only by using and determining it's best function will it become part of the PP tool kit.
In my opinion anything that gives the possibility of improving an image in PP has a place. The trick is finding where it fits for you.
