Not only does radio go faster than an auto, but a helecopter does also and is far, far safer than just a car chase.

Thia doesn't bode well for mankind. I'm glad I'm old so I won't likely live to see the upcoming self-destruction of the human race. The concentration of stupid people is increasing at an alarming rate, possibly because the government satety standards have reduced the natural selection factor (i.e. Darwin Awards) on the gene pool.

Alcohol?
Just a wild guess…

From Revhen, down the hill from the Catskills on the Hudson River: I once was the chaplain for the City of Newburgh police department. I had the "privilege" of conducting the funeral of a policeman shot and killed responding to a domestic violence incident.

I've spent some time in the UK watching their television. There is a show called "Police Interceptors". They show one helicoptor chase after another, with police vehicles not far behind to make the arrest Some of them are at night with night vision cameras. People run straight across roundabouts, through fences, into fields etc. It demonstrates the point very well, but after you've seen a few of them, the show becomes too predictable.

I don’t believe they vote, they are of the sort that complains and stays home. On driving to escape, that adrenal rush, the split second that the choice between ‘fight or flight’? Flight takes over and the tilt button in their head locks in reverse.

Why do drivers think they can drive away and escape the police? The police responded to a domestic abuse situation, and when they arrived, they saw the man in his car. He decided that he didn't want to be bothered dealing with the police, and he took off at high speed. The police soon stopped chasing him because of safety concerns. They had all of his information, and he was arrested the following day. A high-speed chase during the day through residential areas is never a good idea. Now, he has more serious charges against him. You have to wonder what was going through that guy's head. "There's no way those police cars can go 75 MPH. I'll just drive away and hide." Radio communication is faster than any car.

Did you get a photograph of that?

I'm guessing that was some years ago? Today, finding a way to get an offender in front of a judge is quite a challenge. Once that is accomplished, does the judge as mentioned earlier allow the proceedings to even go to a verdict? If you have time for idle entertainment do a YouTube search for "Fridays with Frank".

I have done a high speed chase at an astounding 140 MPH. My aim was to push a drunk perp driving a car running faster than I could go over into a roadside ditch. The chase was during rush hour traffic. I hoped to prevent him from changing lanes and running into on-coming traffic. I only succeeded in scaring him into turning into side roads where he had to slow down. I was not able to catch up to him because he was more familiar with the area. So we lost him.

Two days later he did the same thing, but this time he lost control of his vehicle and wrapped himself around a tree. He was drunk and thought of himself of being a racer. He ended up just with a few scratches to his arm.

What was in his mind? He believed himself to be invincible. As to what may have made him feel that way. Many of us thought it was the way high speed chases were presented in the movies and TV stories. The bad guys always "got away".

It is the fight or flight response, and they choose flight.

Not trying to get this kicked to that attic, but... teaching that people can't trust the police make it more likely that they will chose fight or flight when they encounter the police, and becomes a self fulfilling prophesy (and is bad for all involved).
