Love it! Only time I saw Holly Beach by air was right after Hurricane Audry when a few of us Boy Scouts were lucky enough to get on and Air Force flight out of Lake Charles and fly along the coast in '57.

I was around for that one, too. I was only six, though. What a horrible thing that storm was. It is still talked about every year. Thanks for looking, achesly.

Nice, and no crowds!

Thanks, nim. Correct. There were a few people around but not enough to call a crowd by any stretch.

A clean and lovely beach. The Mississippi River carries a lot of material that it picks up on its way down to the Gulf. The Mississippi is a murky green in our area until the Missouri River empties into it. The change in color from green to muddy brown is astounding. We are located at the confluence of the Meramec River and the Mississippi River so it is quite brown by the time it passes by.

These images are of a tiny community on the Gulf of Mexico that was totally destroyed by Hurricane Laura a few years ago. Not much regrowth since then.

I like 2.

We get the mud from the Calcasieu, the Mermentau, the Atchafalaya, the Sabine, and the Mississippi at some point or other. There are no clear mountain streams in our area! It is only recently that we have begun to keep our beaches clean. For years there was trash everywhere. Not a great reflection of our culture. It has slowly changed over the years, though. Thanks for looking.
