More History In A Garden

Following on from my previous post I have found some more photos that I took of tiles created by members of the community of a small country town in South Australia.

For those that missed my previous post we found a brochure that mentioned the town's multi-award winning Centenary and Memorial Gardens and told us that: “A special feature of the garden is a stone shelter with tiles on the walls made by local people and school children telling stories of transport in the area during the last 100 years.”

Interesting. I'm just starting a wonderful book by Ian Moffitt, The Australian Outback. I've just glanced at it, but am waiting to read about the Devil's Marbles, the red furrowed sand of the Simpson desert, the Olga's and more. It sounds like a place where it would be good to have a place to be able to get in out of the heat and quaff a few.

Thank you for your feedback RodeoMan. I hope you enjoy reading about the Australian Outback. I have lived in Alice Springs for over 50 years and have seen much of the Australian Outback during our travels.
