So in an unfortunate drinking accident I dropped my Lumix ZS 80, and now the lens is stuck open and it won’t take photos. Any one have a favorite repair place they have used for Lumix? Just a side note: I have drunk dropped my Sony RX 100 more times than I can count and it never broke!

No recommendation on the camera repair but maybe buy an OMS TG-6 that is supposed to survive drops.

Or maybe just leave the camera home when you go partying.

I think your camera may need a helmet?

My experience with Lumix cameras is that they are pretty tough. Try sending it back to Panasonic.

Lumix Pro Services rocks. https://lumix-pro.us

The Olympus TG-6 is the predecessor to the current OM Systems TG-7. My wife has a TG-6 and it is fantastic for snorkeling and diving and any rugged use.

Maybe consider not drinking while shooting?

Might be worth a try. However, somehow I remember a similar posting a few months back where an attempt was made after a similar incident. Panasonic denied the request siting an operator fault and not a defect/premature failure. Given the price point for a ZS70/80 series, I think you’d be better off biting the bullet and replacing it.

And that is assuming the camera is still underwarranty. But I am sure Panasonic doesn't warranty damage by droping the camera. They may be able to fix it for less than the cost of new one but even then buying another is a better solution.
