Do you have a question or are you looking for assistance for this image, or an assessment of it? He's a cute kid, but the image is overexposed and lacks sharpness and contrast. It also could have been cropped better and not shoved into that diamond shape. The good news is that the image is saveable, but it needs some work in post. Hopefully you have a raw file version, but even a JPEG version can be improved upon.

Interesting perspective.
However I agree with the comment about cropping. I suggest you try and not crop the top of the lads head and also include the tips of his fingers. Other than that a nice catch that tells a bit of a story imo.

I agree with most of the suggestions posted here. A simple fix to the lack of contrast would be to fix the black point and using a curves adjustment increase contrast. That makes a world of difference.

If you want to go further, I would suggest looking at a traditional fade to white vignette rather than the harsh diamond frame.

If your concerned with the background clutter, you can blur the background slightly prior to the vignette. This still allows one to recognize the setting but better isolates the subject in the scene and helps reduce the impact of the harsh backlighting. The fade to white vignette will help blend that harsh lighting out of the scene.

I appreciate the suggestions, some of which will be applied with the tools I have.
My editing software is iPhoto from1997 that I use on my XP machine,
and ACDseepro6 which I am playing with occasionally on the WIN7.
I retired the 8088 a few years ago. Newer stuff is out of the question.
The soft is because the little demon was pretty close AF seemed OK.
I grabbed the camera, got it to 45 degrees out of level, his head and fingers
were out of the frame, hence the "creative" crop. No excuse for exposure.

Thank all of you all for your time to critique the foto.

Dave
