My wife and I went on a fall colors drive the other day and stopped at a large pullout area that gives a beautiful view of the Matanuska Glacier. I took this with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and edited it slightly for haze. Looks best in download.

(disclaimer: Top Gun posted a beautiful shot of the glacier in the “Gallery” section, but with a slightly different perspective. It inspired me to post this one here since mine is a smartphone shot.)

If you hadn't said, who would have known. It's very pretty, thank you for sharing.

Sometimes we forget that people actually live in some of these beautiful places that many of us spend money to get to. lol

Some years ago, my wife and I flew to Hawaii and while we were waiting to deplane, there were two guys of (obviously) Polynesian descent in front of me.

I said, Excuse me, but I have to ask, where do people who live in a tropical paradise go on vacation? They both grinned at me and said, "Vegas".

To each his own, I guess.

It's totally true. My wife and I spent a year in Vegas one week with our three kids.

We were trying to get back to California, but it had snowed in the mountains and the pass was closed. We were in our motorhome so we stayed at the RV park at Circus Circus.

It's amazing how quickly you run out of things to do when you aren't keen on gambling and you are stuck in a 30' box with small kids.

Great shot. The composition has a great in focus foreground midground and background. You did a great job capturing it. Amazing what our cell phones can do.

Thank you for your encouraging comments. I agree, smartphone cameras are just getting better and better. I took nearly the same shot with my Sony RX100M7 and it didn’t handle the light or colors as well as the iPhone 13 Pro Max did. It took a ton of post processing to “fix” it up before it was almost as good as the cellphone shot.

I have been finding the same thing. Tomorrow I have to shoot a golf tournament for the American Legion Riders (motorcycles) and wish I could use the cell phone but they want a big camera and lens. If you get a chance check out the Samsung 23S Ultra with the 10X optical and 30 X zoom. What a difference.

There’s been some talk about Galaxy 23s Ultra and yeah, sounds like a good one. I’m pretty embedded with Apple stuff, though.
