My first was very similar, but made of wood.
Then I bought a mounted Badder foil, and mounted it in 4" PVC drain pipe that fits over my 80mm telescope, and Inside my Tamron 150-600mm lens.
Now, I have a new telescope. And bought a glass mounted solar filter for it.
Just be sure that NO sunlight can get through or around your filter or holder.

Thank you for the reply Sonny.
I have made sure that it is sealed up good and no sunlight can sneak in. I’ll test this in the morning when the sun comes up right now I just made one to fit my 400 mm lens for my Nikon D 300 S so I let it dry all day and all night.

Check this out. You absolutely right about the tape and practice.
Here is this mornings trial run with the D300s, which I think looks to be better for this.
Here is the thing I made for it and some shots of my initial test. I used center weight and spot metering to see which one works best, I even used matrix just to see on the first test, but after the second round this is what works out so far.
yea the beer was good too.

It is practical. I can assure you, most folks won't see it.
But I hope to see the pictures you take with it.

Well is a quickie first Umm well these are from the D300s and the last photo is strait from the camera, no processing. But the others I ran through LightRoom and did some 'tweaking' and you can see the effects.
The lens is a Nikon 8--400mm. So it does not have the reach to or maybe I just do not know how to do it but no Sun spots were captured. This is my second test using the tripod. Hand held is shaky. The FZ300 images are more wild but Hey, playing hardball with the big boys can be a challenge. I am just learning how to use the FZ300.
But we have two weeks don't touch that dial. I will post more as I get more into this.
Thank you for your time to look at my post and your comments.
Most sincerely,
Bruce.

Looks like it works. Probably need to under expose the image a bit more to get some detail in the sun.
