Have any of you had stainless steel chimney liners installed? My chimney is about fifty years old, and it seems to be in good shape, but I like the idea of a stainless liner. Any comments?

We had one (insulated) installed when we replaced the old wood insert in the fireplace last Fall.
I would imagine it's easier to have cleaned than the corrugated ones (which was in there).
Our chimney is from 1960. I don't know when the original insert was installed by the prior owner.
Operation wise? It works.....
Better or worse? I don't have any idea.

Never used my fireplace! I don't know why almost every house in Texas has fireplace.

That's why it's ambiance instead of heating for many.
But they can take the chill out of the house also.

Same here, never used the fireplace since I bought this house in 2005, even though we get snow around here.

When I lived in IL houses with fireplace would be a luxury but houses there often have basement. In Texas I haven't seen a house with a basement and yet almost all houses I have seen have fireplace.

Some people have little or no interest in them.
I think my neighbor said he's used his two or three times in over 25 years.
My wife and I both like them.

We used our fireplace quite a bit until we got a wood stove in 1974. Wood burns much longer in a stove than in a fireplace.

And if the stove sticks out/insert has a fan, it heats the house much better.

I have tried inserting a fan, but it keeps burning up. 😥

Speaking of fans, I have a small fan on top of the stove, and it is powered by heat. Weird. When the stove gets hot, the fan spins.

That's because the spirits in the fan are on a treadmill connected to the fan and trying to get away from the heat.
Isn't technology wonderful?
