There has been discussion on UHH about package delivery... well it is my time to vent...

Tuesday 9/19/2023... FedEx notified me that a package, that I was expecting, would be here Thursday (Fedex words: "Thu 9/21/2023 estimated between 11:10am and 3:10pm"). I had a commitment that time on Thursday, so I arranged for an alternate delivery time... same date... (and paid them $5.55 for the change)... they had a time slot open for between 5pm and 8pm... which I selected

FedEx confirmed the between Thursday 9/21/2023 5pm and 8pm delivery commitment... then on Wednesday they notified me that it was scheduled for that Thursday between 5 and 8... and I was home to accept the package.

Sometime between 9 and 10pm Thursday 9/21/2023 I got notices from FedEx, and seller, that they had to reschedule for Friday... "by end of day" (I communicated with a FedEx computer on-line to try to determine if "by end of day" meant between 5pm and 8pm delivery... or anytime between 8am and 8pm... NO LUCK getting a sensible answer from their computer).

I also used their on-line tool to try to get a refund for the $5.55 I had paid them to adjust the time from morning to evening on the Thursday the 21st... since they did not deliver anytime that day... STRUCK OUT THERE... it seems that if they get a correct TIME OF DAY... even if it is a day, a week, a year late... it is on time in their opinion.

Stayed home ALL DAY Friday... and sometime between 9 and 10 Friday 9/22/2023 I got notices from FedEx, and seller, that they had to reschedule for Saturday... "by end of day". EVEN BETTER THIS TIME, FedEx ON LINE STATUS PAGE SAID IT WAS ON THE TRUCK FOR DELIVERY AT 3:42am Friday morning... I GUESS THEY JUST DID NOT GET AROUND TO STOPPING BY MY HOUSE. (I AGAIN communicated with a FedEx computer on-line to try to determine if "by end of day" meant between 5pm and 8pm delivery... or anytime between 8am and 8pm... same result... NO LUCK getting a sensible answer from their computer)

Sometime between 9 and 10pm Friday 9/22/2023 I got notices from FedEx, and seller, that they had to reschedule for Saturday... "by end of day" (whatever that means.

Staying home all day Saturday 9/22/2023 and hoping for a delivery "by end of day"... really wondering if it could mean before MIDNIGHT. Tried communicating with their computer again and it said my package will be here "by end of day"... but I can't help wonder when that is. I can't blame the delivery guy... as I doubt he is in control of this... but if the package was, as their web site says, ON THE TRUCK FOR DELIVERY AT 3:42am Friday morning... is it the driver that decided just not to deliver it???????

So far, I have spent 2 1/2 days at home, waiting, have paid to get a specific time frame... they didn't deliver when they committed... but they will not refund. Still waiting...

Just maybe, I should stop ordering anything on line when they use FedEx. I already gave up after a couple of years of aggravation from the local post office... however, we have been pleased with UPS deliveries.

... to be continued

I understand a "hiccup" now and then.
Does it happen on a regular basis?
If UPS had the same instance and you quit ordering from companies who use them,
you'd no longer be able to get stuff shipped to you.
You could use Amazon.
But what if they have a hiccup.

Doo-doo occurs.

USPS took a week to get a small padded envelope to me near Philadelphia, from Portland, Oregon.
Originally slated for a Saturday delivery, then changed to Monday.
I still use USPS, as I do the other shippers.

Well... I haven't had anything from FedEx in 5 or 6 years anyway so I will get over this before I have another occasion to use them... IF, the package gets delivered.

My last problem with USPS, just didn't get a package and USPS denied the claim (initially). Repeat claim I could provide more details (since they were saying,,, how do I know someone didn't steal it). I was sitting in my living room, with my wife, and she saw the USPS truck and told me so I walked out immediately and got the mail. The postman had indicated it was delivered so I caught up with him and he said... "probably left it at another house... it happens"... yes it does... a lot

The reason I am having to wait here is the package (a computer for my wife) will have to be signed for.

I understand.
An inconvenience none the less.

I had a desktop delivered six weeks ago.
I kept checking the porch every half hour...
Luckily it was delivered that day.

When I worked, I had stuff delivered to where I work, for that reason.

By any chance do you have a Fed Ex office not too far from where you live? I find it easier to have things delivered there and then when they have it, go and pick it up. Waiting at home for a package that has to be signed is a pain no matter who delivers it these days. Part of the problem is that the delivery workers are overwhelmed with so many packages that we all have delivered these days. I have had problems with all the carriers but to be honest, feel for the poor employees trying to deliver all the packages they have been given.

Good thought. If it hadn’t come today I was going to find out where I could pick it up… but it did arrive and didn’t ask me to sign… didn’t ring the doorbell either. I thought I had to sign.

Maybe they are using covid rules still. I had multiple deliveries that they saw me thru the glass and said they would sign for me.

I was home waiting for a camera delivery but felt at ease because the seller sent it “recipient signature required”. Near the end of the delivery window, I found the camera delivered on my front doorstep. I checked the Fed Ex website and my delivery noted “signed for by homeowner”. I now have more expensive items held for me to pick up at the depot.

The ones where they rang, waited till I opened front door, but when I started to open the glass storm door they said they would sign for me… were deliveries of ammo.

As I replied to “Longshadow” they never fail to ring when delivering ammo… even if they sign for me.

USPS is the only company who rings the doorbell. I really appreciate that.

Near my area, package thieves follow behind the delivery people, I see many reports on social media.

Many houses are a few steps away from the sidewalk, so it's fast and easy to grab a box.

Best thing to do is to find the local drop off and pickup points.

Fedex, UPS, and Amazon all have them.

USPS and DHL might be a little harder, and there are some smaller couriers as well.

Perhaps a local business would receive packages for you.
