Does anyone have any information other than the manufacturer’s specifications and sales pitch about this camera? Are there any reliable reviews around?
I don't own one, but I salivate every time I hear the words!! I'm sure B&H and Adorama have links to reviews.??
One thing I just read that stuck with me is that the 100 has PDAF but the 50 has only CDAF. That seemed really significant to me.
PDAF vs CDAF IS an important difference
The Fuji medium format (or crop Medium format) is a great camera at a great price with superb image quality
But it is substantially different than the best FF Mirrorless cameras. It is not really the same experience.
So the buying decision is more "Do I NEED what the Fujifilm is Best at? and will i miss the blazing speed of the best FF Mirrorless cameras, in the 45-60 MP range.
For some, that decision will be an easy yes or no (I mostly shoot Landscapes on a tripod, or I mostly shoot BIF)
For others, it is more nuanced. If you make large prints on large gamut Printers 100MP can really shine. But in fairness that is mostly true of the latest 45-60MP mirrorless cameras.
There is a LOOK related to larger sensors which can be seen easily on the 150MP Phase One cameras and to a lesser degree on the Fujifilm & Hasselblad sized sensors.
I have been toying with this decision for the last couple of years, and have not pulled the trigger, and as I get older I am probably less likely to do it.
I sold a car I really wasn't using a couple years ago, and put 25k in a separate bank account with the Idea that I would use it to buy the NEXT camera system. It is still sitting there.
I think I am more likely to end up in the other direction with something like the 60MP Leica QII
I do not know if that is at all helpful.
I have no doubt it is a fine camera.

I have a friend that specializes in portrait and fashion photography and moved from high res FF (Nikon) to the 100MP Fuji for his studio work, and I will say that there is a positive visible difference. So for that type of work, it’s definitely worth the investment, but not a general purpose camera for BIF or sports or travel. in terms of cost, the body is almost the same in price as a Z9 or R3.
If I did that type of photography and had the budget for it, I’d buy one in a minute. For background, I’ve done a lot of shooting with and still occasionally use a MF RB67 ProS, so I know the advantage of a big negative/sensor, and I’m not afraid of the size and weight. In fact, now that I think about it, I wonder what I can get for my darkroom and MF camera and lenses.

I agree! Not for everybody camera! And yes, there is definitely a visible (GOOD) difference between 40mp and 100mp!
I used to shoot MF slide film landscapes, 6x4.5 cm. It's hard to find a projector for them so I built a lightbox. 24 645 slides on a light box are magic!!!

I'm going to a Fujifilm camera try out day at a local camera shop on September 30th. Then I can hold it and try it out. It is an incredible camera, from what the specs show, but at $7,000 plus, just for the body, that is something I will only be able to dream about owning. In the old film days, I had or should say, still have a Hasselblad and a Pentax 6x7 as well as a bevy of Nikons. I also used Fuji film, which gave such nice colours.
When I started wedding photography, I bought the digital Fujifilm DSLRs (S3 and S5) and they too, had a nicer colour sensor than the Nikon and Canon DSLRs. You could see the difference, very pleasing skin tones, for example. If I could afford it, I would buy that new Fujifilm GFX 100 II just for what it can do as a still and video camera. Looking forward to the 30th, but I will not be taking any credit cards with me. Maybe I should start a go fund me page. Everybody seems to be doing that nowadays for all sorts of things!

Nope. But I sure wish I could afford one!

Just type it in in a search on you tube. I watched a couple. Seems pretty good as far as updates go. New sensor & processor. Faster with more videorecording features if I understand it rite.
