I sometimes find it fun to try to emulate those 1910’s to 1930’s Parisienne Portraits. A time when photographic equipment and techniques allowed ground-breaking photographers to completely change portrait photography, from a very static to a highly dynamic art form. This was also an era and place where female models from all the strata of society (from prostitutes to princesses) were enthusiastically being photographed in both demure and debauched detail.
In this portrait, I used natural & available light techniques, one beautiful, full-figured model, and three props. A 1910’s rococo revival wall mirror, a 1920’s hand mirror, and a modern era lipstick.
