Headed to Yosemite and Tahoe this month. Don’t want to carry too much.

What canon lenses would you advise?

Thanks in advance

All I can tell you is what I've taken -- To most of the Nat. Parks including Yosemite
The specific lenses you take will depend on your camera's format -- My Camera is a full-frame Canon 5Ds --
Less than Full frame generally = zoom lenses
Call me old-fashioned but I happen to prefer primes -- All Canon Lenses
24mm1.4; 35mm1.4, 85mm1.8 & my one Zoom 100-400II with a 1.4III extender
Also, take along a polarizer & just in case a Right-Angle viewer & Last but not least a lightweight Gitzo Tripod

I can't tell you specific Canon lenses since I shoot Nikon but on my trips to Yosemite I have taken a 14mm-30mm, a 24mm-120mm, (or a 24mm-200mm) and a fast prime, like a 20mm f1.8. I have seen bear at Yosemite but usually they come out at dusk so most of the shots I have taken were landscape.

Your choice primarily depends on what you intend to shoot. I generally take a wide angle 16-35 for landscape and a long lens for wildlife, 100-400 or 100-500. You need to keep your distance from the wildlife and a long lens is essential if you want close shots.

I just take my camera bag with everything in it, with 1 monopod and 1 tripod. Then when I get to a place where I will be taking photographs, I decide what to hike with. Usually I put the camera, a 24-100, and a 100-400 in a backpack, strap whichever stand I decide to carry, and go. I don't miss much that way, and the arrangement leaves me hands-free for navigation.

First off, which lenses do you have? I have 2 lenses that I use on most every occasion. A 28-300L and the 100-400LII. They are for me the perfect combination of glass for most every situation.

I agree with Architect. And that goes for any park, wide fire the landscape and zoom to bring in things closer. You probably will shoot mostly at 50. 50 is also good for panos.

My preferred lens for Yosemite is an ultra wide, 14 or even better 12mm

If you plan to do any climbing travel very light. A Superzoom with 1" sensor will provide excellent photos and will fit in your pocket or hang from your neck. Putting your name and address on the bottom will help the rangers identify your body.

My Panasonic TZ100 has an add-on for using screw-on filters, polarizer, ND, etc., which can be used to enhance your photos.

Yes, I have a DSLR and a family of lenses, They gather dust, too much to fool with when 1" is superb and with AI processing fantastic.
