The shot itself is very nice, but I think it could use a little post processing. I added some light, some black point and changed the white balance a bit, added a touch of clarity then cropped in to make the scene about the Heron and not the bridge structure. I’m sure that others will have a different perspective on the subject, but this is what I found to be more interesting to me.
Also, I have found that if you focus on the eye of a bird, you end up with a more detailed shot. Although it’s tougher to get when the bird is moving.
thanks, I agree the the PP makes it better.
Well done! The post processed version is nice, but IMO, doesn't add much to the original.
Beautiful. Tightening the crop makes all the difference.
Super creative work; I’m also a big fan of the cropped image.
Actually, I like the original more than Pmorin's rework. His seems too light without enough contrast.
I like the original better. I think cropping would help some, though.

I like the original batter. Thanks BE SAFE!!

I like the shot without cropping because it tells a story about where this bird stood for a while. Cropping is about the bird but not so much about where it is. I adjusted the highlights, shadow and exposure a little to accentuate the bird. But with any post processing, it's in the eye of the one with the cursor. I have no claim to excellence.
This is an excellent capture, and I like rlovaglio's version. But as a minimalist, would also crop the brown part out of the far right, remove that "wire" at the top right, remove the blue "T" and other spots from the dark structure and the vertical light gap between the dark and brown, and the small pile (turd?) at the far left. I know, picky, picky, but I think whatever doesn't add to the subject (including context, mood, tone, etc,) is better gone away.
