Monsoon Sunrise, but where's the rain
Sep 3, 2023 10:48:57   #
Wilderness Images Loc: Apache Junction, AZ.

The morning of August 20th, I kept watching a sunrise glow forming over the summit of Superstition Mountain outside of Apache Junction, Arizona. Gradually it turned into a full blown screamer and that's when I took this shot at 05:58am.

We now have the clouds and the humidity (45%), so where's the rain? This Monsoon season has been extremely intermittent where we get the sunrise and sunset clouds but, here in the Valley, the rains just haven't participated in the seasonal event, while other cities in the state have been getting hammered.

Well Jack, you caught one of the best sunrises I've seen since getting to the area in May. We have only had two rain storms in Casa Grande. The last was more like a hurricane.

Great shot, Jack, that is one angry looking sky.

Wow--that's a beauty, Jack! Congrats on a fine shot.

54% humidity? I know that's high for you, but that's low back here in Indiana this summer. We have been as high as 85%.

That's gorgeous. At least you're getting monsoon sunrises! I can't tell you how weary I've become of mostly sunny skies when we should be having juicy clouds full of rain.
