I do not want to sound rude or sarcastic, but you have been on this forum for six and a half years, you apparently have some idea about cameras and photography in general. Base you judgment and decision on what you know about photography, and about your grandson, to help make a decision. You may also talk with him and see what he may be interested in doing with a camera. Does he want film or digital? Does he want to learn or does he already have some photography knowledge or experience? Check online sites that sell cameras and equipment, look at photography forums for cameras for sale. Maybe check out camera rentals, if available.

You and your grandson are the best source of information to better answer your inquiry. There are so many different makes, models, types of cameras now that we (this forum) would only give you what we would want to have. Each of us may be biased toward one brand or type of camera. Go into this with an open mind and be aware of the numerous options that may present themselves to you.

Good luck with your endeavor.

Sally D,

Have you found a camera for your grandson? If not, I have several around the house I would be willing to sell. I'm now totally digital. I'm located in west Texas and water is a premium. There is almost no wet processing. Hence the switch to digital.

Are you looking for a point-n-shoot, a rangefinder like the Yahica Electro 35 or a SLR.

My email is: 1luciancz@gmail.com (cell: 325-234-7509)

I've been waiting for a response on whether you want film or digital. I have a Canon film camera that I could part with. It's film.
