For what it's worth, Adobe just released Photoshop beta v. 25.1.

And do be careful...I downloaded it and we are right back to the can't open a photo in PS or PS Beta from LR issue. I went back to 25.0 and all is well...

That's interesting, Fred. So far, it's well-behaved on my computer - LR => PS is working well. Adobe had identified that there was an issue with LRC that was repaired with the latest LR update. Sorry to hear you had that issue.

I was surprised, shocked actually. It was the last thing I would have expected to happen. I shall stick with V25 on the Beta to see if maybe it's just me...

I had the opposite situation: LR Classic wouldn't open PS Beta 25.0 on my Mac Mini (M2 processor) unless I turned off Use Graphics Processor in the PS Beta settings. Now with PS Beta 25.1, I turned the Use Graphics Processor back on and LR Classic launches PS Beta 25.1 with no issue.

LOL, Computers are wonderful things...until they don't work like you expect...some of the 'new' features in the various updates are most unwelcome...

Such is life...

After reading your message I updated to PS Beta 25.1 (Win 11 pc). I opened LRc and tried "edit in" - PS Beta with an image. PS Beta opened and the image opened quickly (in seconds). All seems to be functioning as expected for me.

Another thought - latest version of LRC is 12.5. You may want to confirm you have it installed, since Adobe attributed the Open in PS problem to a Lightroom issue with earlier versions. Easiest way to do check is Help/System Info.

I recently used PS beta based on a YouTube video I watched by Anthony Morganti. He said to update the LRC v12.5 Perferences - External Editing to have PS beta as the first editor and PS as the second. I am on a MacBook Pro with V13.5. I did the PS beta installation and the Perferences change and was able to use Generative Fill without any issues. The speed was very reasonable.

After so many of you said all was well, I decided to update to Beta to 25.1 (and ensure all other LRc and PS programs were of the latest versions - PC computer with the latest Win 11).

Experimenting with Edit In from LRc, doing both edit the original and edit a copy everything worked as expected in both the regular version and the Beta version of PS.

What could I have done wrong before? I've no idea and will not argue with success.

I thank you all for the feedback that lead me in the right direction.

Now back to editing!

One thing I have noticed with the latest version and Generative Fill is that I have yet to get that annoying message that I am doing something that isn't allowed, or whatever wording they use. I don't ever want to see that message again!
