This goes to show the relatively deep DOF @ f4 ! ( it's really a 220mm lens) - with the camera on wide focus area - it picks the closer subject to focus on.

Nice shots Larry. A good demonstration of the difference to expect from a crop sensor camera vs full frame. A full frame body with a 600mm at f/4 would not provide your demonstrated DOF and therefore a different result. Both have their advantages/disadvantages depending on what you are looking for. Thanks for sharing.
