I subscribe to the Adobe forum, and since I posed a question on it I Have received over 100 emails from others on the forum with similar problems. Anyone on this forum heard about any upcoming updates with fixes?

Didn't fix the bug.
I'm starting to believe the real problem is in Lightroom Classic because you can open photos in photoshop from Bridge without a problem.

I'm still having problems, too. (I posted a few days ago.) Their forum for fixing the bugs hasn't been helpful so far. I've been trying to contact them the last few days and their mailbox is full. Best of luck in fixing it.

There’s a reason they call it “Beta”. They’re taking an interesting approach. Usually beta versions are only offered to a number of power users or you have to go look for the beta version. Adobe is the first company I’ve seen that put the beta on the main page so every subscriber can get to it. The advantage is that bugs will be found much faster. The disadvantage to the user is that you’re more likely to have problems. Luckily no bugs yet for me! And I love it. Generative Fill blows content aware fill away.
Now I do still have non-beta loaded and if I run into trouble I can always point my plugin manager to that.

Beta means bugs, to be expected. If you want a stable version, use something else than beta.

think we all know the pitfalls of a beta program. Little bugs can be worked around.
In this instance, however, an update to a program that was working very well resulted in a total disaster. That was not expected

You don't have to use the Beta version, which is mainly there to play with the new AI features. The non-beta version is still there and it's the one I use most of the time. Adobe likes to hear about problems with the Beta version, so they can fix them before the first official release.

it seems many people here are unclear on what beta software means?

Beta will have bugs. The reason to use beta is to help the developers and maybe you get to see something new, but there will be bugs. Some can be serious others will be minor. Don’t use beta software if you are not prepared to handle bugs.

Superfly and Rongo make good points. Please re-read what they said.

With respect, but YOU don't seem to understand. They didn't update the working program (LRc) and create a disaster. They released a different stand alone "beta" version so you have an opportunity to try it out. The latest official release of LRc is still in my workflow and it works perfectly well just like before the "Beta" version. I only use the beta version to play with the new creative features. I won't put it into my workflow until it is officially released.

There is a process for writing new software. There is also a process, similar in a lot of ways, for writing updates for software. Both are very complicated, have a lot of steps, and involve lots of moving and non-moving parts. Part of that is testing. That starts with internal testing. Will it even start? Will it run? will all of its functions and options work? Does it seem to give reasonable results? This can be called alpha testing. Nowadays it is usually done according to a written plan and checklist. There is usually a lot of discovery, fixing, alteration, and doing over.

The next step is beta testing. It needs to involve actual users, preferably users with a good idea of what they are doing and a good understanding of how the previous version of the software worked. They must be users who can communicate lucidly when they hit a snag. What went wrong? What exactly was going on when it happened? Did you try anything to fix it? What finally happened?

Beta testing should be a "spare time activity" for the user. It should never be done to do actual work. Sometimes new versions can contain bugs that cause catastrophic results to files and data. There are no guarantees. And I can vaguely recall a couple of occasions when updates that were offered for beta test were abandoned completely and never released to production versions of the software.

So...testing and trying can be useful, fun, educational, and rewarding. Just don't get too carried away with it.

Well I do not use Lightroom , but I just installed it , I use Latest version of Photoshop , I have Lightroom classic but rarely need it . So I just loaded Lightroom CC 6.4 , Went to Bridge 2023 opened a raw folder choose an image right clicked for drop down apps , picked adobe folder clicked , found Lightroom clicked it . Screen said Always or once choose once Lightroom loaded no problem tried it twice same thing . I am still running windows10 , Intel I7 8 cores RTX 580 8GB , 64 GB of RAM . Tried this with updated Latest version of Photoshop 24.4.1 , and Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC . Great results perhaps you have windows 11 , or running a Mac . If Not maybe you are carrying a problem from previous version . Have you uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh version of Lightroom CC . I am assuming the CC version is the latest . Or I am miss understanding the problem . I missed One Step . After right clicking the image go to browse Then Adobe in the apps then "open" at the bottom choose Lightroom classic , next open again pick Lightroom That is the executable then open screen says Always open with this app , then choose always once or cancel . I believe if always is chosen Images should open every time in CC Lightroom .

YOu don't understand. The BETA program was working fine, having nothing to do with the current actual program, The disaster was in the beta plan. check the Adobe forum and see how many complaints with the BETA program there are. And read carefully

IT’S BETA!!! It’s a work in progress. I’m not even sure what you mean by the disaster is in “the beta plan”
