that is no Black Widow spider it is however a Mabel orchard orbweaver
The Mabel orchard orbweaver can cause toxic reactions with a wide range of severity. They are usually not fatal to humans

He was in my yard, so I just photographed him and let him be. I thank you for the information.

I used a 105mm macro, but I was only several inches from the spyder. It's been several days since I took that picture, and he's still on his web catching insects! He moves very little and doesn't seem to be bothered by me.
