I really appreciate all the interest generated by my offer to share my Maine Coast Travel notes. A couple of thoughts on planning photo ops when traveling that I didn't list on the links list: when I have a subject that deserves special planning for golden or blue light, sunrise/sunset, Photo Ephemeris maps are an essential reference in hard-copy form, in conjunction with the Google Earth close-up location views. This is especially effective when waterfalls are involved, so I can see the flow direction and know which direction I will be photographing from. Also, it shows me where shadows from adjacent mountains may affect the subject. (I know there are many paths to the same destination, this is just how I go about it.) I also use Google Earth close-ups on destinations where I need to see the lay of the land and any parking lots, access trails, etc. (I used to miss finding places because I didn't know what to expect.) Earth view is a lot different/better than graphic maps.
The links that I promised were moved to Links and Resources, which kind of disrupted the sequence that some of you may have been watching for. So, here is the link to the links.
