I'm going to Shoeshow WV for 2 weeks in mid-August. What suggestions do you have for photo opportunities within an hour's+/- drive? Thank you.
If you're looking for new shoes that would be the best place to go.
Perhaps "Snowshoe, West Virginia?" A popular winter sports destination?
New River Gorge National Park and WV Scenic Highway are two that come to mind.
Yes, Snowshoe, not Shoeshoe. It's fun getting old.

Greenbank, National Radio Observatory, no cell phone service for miles since its an electromagnetic quiet zone with a 300-foot diameter for its dish, this is the biggest telescope in the world that can be steered.

Darn!!!!! And here I thought you were coming up with a new verse to, Chattanooga Choo Choo. The Shoe Shoes were helping bring you home.

…if you like trains…just down the road in Cass, WV is the scenic railroad state park…
As mentioned, both Greenbank and Cass Scenic Railroad, both of which are on Rt. 92, which is a little east of Rt 219, the main road to Snowshoe. Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park is on 219 to the south, and the more picturesque places of Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks and Dolly Sods are a little more distant to the north. Beartown State Park is also close. Hope this helps!
I like the first two replies. 😁

Roy Rogers bought a grand pair of new boots. While out camping overnight, he laid his new expensive pair of boots out to dry. A mtn. cat thought they might be tasty and took them.
In the morning Roy tracked the big cat, trapped it, and reclaimed what was left of his boots.
When the other campers saw what he had trapped, the question to all was.............
Pardon my Roy, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes?........

I've heard several that work along the same lines.
