my wife has some I phone photos she sent to me as an email and wants me to to do some processing.
I just can not figure out how to get from emailed to a download into my LRC.

Easy. Drag the photo from the email to any folder that Lightroom 'sees'. Synchronize that folder in lightroom and there you go. I also have a Lightroom Auto Import folder on my desktop. I just drag them there and they show up in LR.

Treat them like any other image file. "Save All" from email and select either their final resting place in your archive hierarchy (if you don't want to rename) or into a temporary folder on your desktop (if you want to rename).

Then in the first case just Import -> Add and in the second case Import -> Copy and select their final resting place and a rename template.

Save it on the computer first as others have suggested.

The question has been answered, but I will make a suggestion, an iPhone can export pictures in lots of resolutions , from small to 'Actual Size', and the quality difference is huge from small which might be 100kb to actual size which might be from 3 -10 MB or more, further some email programs further limit size.
So if you want the best quality, email them to yourself one at a time , actual size.
There are also ways to export RAW from newer phones
Good luck

Really good point! When someone sends photos via email, it’s unlikely they will send them in Actual Size. In your wife's case, you may consider signing into her ICloud.com account on your PC/Mac. Then follow the directions earlier in this string by downloading the desired files to your PC/Mac folder to be synchronized in LRC.

If you have them sent to you as an email, open the email up, open the photo, drag photo to desktop, now open lightroom classic, select open, choose desk top, select the email you just put on desktop.

billnikon,
Hi Bill. Do you mean in LRC go to file > open catalog or open recent?
Thanks,

What type of computer are you using and what email? It makes a slight difference in the process. Ask mentioned the images might not be full size because the size is controlled by the sender (you wife). And I am not sure how LR handles live view images, possibly they need to be saved as JPEG format.

The general process I use for importing images from email into LR (or PS) is:
(1) Create a folder for the images
(2) Download the images from email to that folder
(3) Rename images accordingly
(4) Open LR (or PS) and Import (or open in PS) the images from that folder
