Apparently, Outdoor Photographer Magazine, which first appeared in 1985, has published its last issue, June-July 2023. The magazine was purchased by The BeBop Channel Corporation earlier this year as part of an acquisition of the magazine's publisher, Madavor Media. Reportedly, the magazine had not paid its contributors for some time. The staff was fired in May.

The magazine itself was held in high esteem, and to contribute content for it was a mark of honor.

Digital Photo Pro, Imaging Resource, Digital Photo, and Image Creators Network are on the chopping block too.

Outdoor Photography, an excellent publication from the UK, continues to be published.

Truly sad, but not unexpected, as online has killed most print magazines.

Cheers

Used to love the articles by Galen Rowell, De Witt Jones and all the rest... Loved to read it cover to cover trying to make a decision for the Pentax ME or Minolta XD11. Those were the days...

Same here! Still have and use the red boy scout-type multi-purpose knife/tool they sent me for my first subscription.

I still have my complete collection of Outdoor Photographer from the very first issue. I still like going and picking out a random issue and sitting down and rereading the whole thing from cover to cover.

I might suggest a photography magazine that is still going strong and expanding its "products", if that is a good indication of business health (It was not for Kodak), LensWork https://www.lenswork.com/index2.html. It is much more than a simple magazine, they have in-print, on-line, digital versions, portfolios, interviews, books, journals, workshops, etc. But be forewarned LensWork is not gear oriented. The only thing I don't like is the Log-In procedure and Site navigation. Which I why I no longer subscribe but still get their emails to peruse. Nothing is perfect (UHH hint, hint). Anyway, at least take a look at LensWork.

It is the sign of the times. Add SI to your list that went to bi-monthly publishing and released most of their photographers. Netflix and Disney are moving to AI.

I like to take back issues with me on trips. My last trip to the 4 corners region ( accompanied by at least 6 back issues with photos taken in the same area), reminded me of what to look for and ideas.
Have you ever tried to read a laptop screen in the Arizona sunlight?

The people who make "our" decisions for us, rarely venture from their cubicles. When they do, restrooms and coffee dispensers aren't exactially photogenic
