Harpy eagles...

I was not aware of this specie until I had a discussion with a friend of mine...

I got to get within a couple of feet with a Harpy Eagle a couple months ago. I got some great close photos.
They are very large Eagles for sure. I was told that their talons are on pace with grizzly bears

Note the photo with the harpy on the log, they aren't that huge

That head is so interesting. Looks almost like a mythical creature! Thanks for sharing, I was not aware of this eagle subspecies!

Me neither, but I always heard the expression "Howling like a bunch of harpies" and then I saw pictures. Like a Frankenstein bird 😱😱😱😱😱
