Support help from ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5

For the most part, I like ON1 PR. I initially bought in 2017 (I think) and upgraded each year since. However, with the 2018.5 “free” upgrade, I needed up needing to buy a new GPU to run it. My biggest grumble is feeing like a beta tester when the annual upgrade is issued. In each of the last four years, I had major problems with each until a fix version was issued within the next month. I still like it, but those major updates have never been ready for prime time.

Well said. I think this might articulate the core issue with ON1. As the company grows and increases market share, hopefully they will evolve to include more reliable software releases and improved customer support.

I checked out their website and found only email or chat as a means to contact them. I suspect it is a small company with a few developers being the main staff with little time to interact with customers AND develop and fix problems. If they survive long enough, they may be able to employ qualified people for customer support. However, this may be an indicator that they are on the way down and have gotten rid of customer support people.

I tried to load ON1 several months ago as I was looking for a new software editing app but it would not load on my laptop. I had plenty of processing power and RAM but the software did not like my graphics processor and would not load. That made me a little wary of them after that. None of the other major photo editors with demo periods had any problems loading and working. I suspect this has been a major problem for them as I am sure many others have had similar issues.

I understand that software developers must strive to advance their products but they cannot expect everyone to update their computers each time they release new software. They should understand that the majority of their potential customers own and use computers several years old.

In 2 years contacted them twice with no problem. It took 24 hours for them to come back to me.

I’m unhappy with ON1 as well. I have subscribed to them for 5 or 6 years but when I purchased the 2023 update it wouldn’t load. I wrote to them and the work around still doesn’t work! I am still using last year’s version but I doubt I’ll continue to support their products
