I was not looking to set up a staged exposure in these images, I was just capturing the moment as it was.
More of my inside look at our loving B17. The first image I think is the rear landing gear but the wheel is hard to see.

Beautiful shots. My uncle flew 36 missions over France and beyond before the Army Air Force instituted the 25 and home policy. Many ball turret gunners died when the rest of the crew walked away when landing gear collapsed on landing.

I did not see a tail gunner on the plane ?
I looked at all the other pictures and all I got from the tail end was the landing gear from the inside of the plane.

Wow Bruce! You and that camera are good. Love your images. Have you ever been to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. You would have a ball here, but it would take several days to photo everything.

Here is some info for you Bruce. There is a whole bunch of things in here to get familiar with. We are very proud of the Air Force Museum here in Dayton. This is an updated Museum link and I see that the section of early aviation is only open once in awhile on here because they are updating the lighting to make that area brighter right now. It will be open all the time pretty soon, you will probably see the article in here that explains it, but there is a ton of things to see in here. Have fun.

Check it out when you have time.

The tiny hatch on that ball turret is skeery. Especially for one who's claustrophobic. Another example of the bravery of our WW II vets.
