The City of Salisbury & its stunning Cathedral, UK.

I have been sorting through my archives, hope you enjoy our visit to Salisbury last year.
Salisbury Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican Cathedral and is the mother church of the Diocese of Salisbury and is the seat of the Bishop of Salisbury.
The building is regarded as one of the leading examples of Early English Gothic architecture. Its main body was completed in 38 years, from 1220 to 1258. The spire was built in 1320. It was heightened to 404 feet (123 m) and has been the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom since 1561.
The Poultry Cross is where countryfolk would sell their produce beneath its arches, and on occasion there would be open air sermons. The cross is first mentioned in 1335. Opposite, and dating to the same period, are several halftimbered buildings, including the 'Haunch of Venison' Inn. In medieval times this area would have been bustling with pilgrims who stayed at the numerous Inns before visiting the Cathedral. Unfortunately the night before we visited a drunk driver crashed through the ropes and caused damage to the bottom of the structure.

It is a beautiful structure, Sylvia. My wife and I were there somewhere around 2016, if memory serves.
There were some kind of wire sculptures on the grounds and the ugly scaffolding that is so common to these buildings.
Your work has brought back some very fond memories of your part of the world and quite frankly, I like your shots better than the ones that I took but my posts here were SOOC whereas, you are dangerous with an iPad.

Beautiful set. I love the old cathedrals. I have toured the York Minster and it was fascinating.
