My Mother in Law is in town, comes here every Thanksgiving. She was going to leave me some German WWII memorabilia in her will, but has surprised me early instead. She brought 5 Nazi daggers that her Uncle had brought back from the European theatre . There is a German Red Cross dagger w/sheath, a Luftwaffe officers dagger w/sheath & 3 Nazi Party SA daggers. She is also sending 2 Nazi officers swords & a English sword from the early 19th century. The swords are being mailed as they wouldn't fit in her luggage...I had admired these items over 25 years ago when we all still lived in Maryland & I have a Japanese rifle my father had sent back from the Pacific theater before I was even born. Now to figure out how to display them....Pictures to follow

Did you ever wonder why Spandau Prision was dismantled the stones crushed into powder and then dumped in the North Sea? It is the same reason your items should be melted down...anyone who has an interest in them is most likely not someone anyone decent would associate with.

My In Laws are Jewish, they didn't have a problem having the items for decades & they lost family in the camps....

Don't worry Scott. Some people don't understand war trophies.

Spandau Prison, in Berlin, was torn down after Rudolf Hess, its last prisoner, died in 1987, in order to keep it from becoming a neo-Nazi shrine. It's entirely different from war trophies.

Thank you for knowing your history!! The intrest in these types of items for anyone I know is that they remind us just how strong evil grows when good people do nothing to stop it. Those who will not remember will succum to it again.

How to display them,I'd say display them proudly,
to do less would mean that we'd rather forget.
Many people would rather stick their heads in the
sand and pretend this is a perfect world as long
as you keep your head buried.Like it or not it is
part of history and if forgotten chances are it could
be repeated. Like it was stated before, it happens
only when GOOD people does nothing.
Have a good day my friend and please send in a picture
when you do decide how to display them.

I can understand your jumping to that conclusion, but I am Jewish, a supporter of Israel and about as anti-Nazi as they come, but I have some Nazi memorabilia given to me by my family doctor who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. I keep it because WWII is very meaningful to me.

Please accept my apology...

My dad was in the Army in England for a while before going in to Europe by way of Omaha Beach. I meant no offense but from my personal experience the display of such items and in fact ownership of such items should be kept private so as not to attract "fans" of the Nazi ideals. My neighbor is German, born in Germany in 1951. His father was a tailor and after emigrating to the US in 1957 worked for Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. He served his country during the war like my father served his. Unlike my father who saw a lot of ground action, his father was in a submarine. He was the lookout or periscope operator. My neighbor has all of his father's stuff from the war...that which they were permitted to keep of course. He showed me the things he had, a watch, a medal, some papers, his father's discharge papers, etc. I have my father's photo, medals, heart-shield Bible and cover in a shadow box on my wall. He has his dad's stuff in a locked box in the back of the closet. I asked him why he told me that when he lived in Colorado about 15 years ago he had the medal (iron cross) on display in a cabinet and one of his neighbors saw it and heard the story. Within three weeks he was overwhelmed with unsolicited invitations to join a group that could be described as hate-based. He and his wife literally had to move to another part of the state and has since never published their names in a phone book. As long as their are "fans" there is risk.

Rix, they should be given to a Holocost Museum for display. They are NOT honorable items, but should be displayed as part of a WWII museum exhibit.

You just want to hide the similarities of the Nazi's to the Obama administration.History repeats itself.Learn from it.
