Yesterday I spotted this mangy-looking animal on the golf course next door to our apartment house. I thiought it a coyote but others felt it was a fox. Today, after a terrible thunder, lightening and hail storm, 2 foxes appeared, is that the correct plural, and one showed the awesome beauty of a foxes coat, so they are definitely fox. Now to see if their den is nearby and if there are puppies. TI called the course and left the details in their hands.
I used my Nikon Z50 with the 50-250 mm kit lens, i wish I had a little more reach for these. The videos are cool, too bad I can't post them here.
Very nice! I wonder if something is wrong with the mangy looking one.
i was worried it might be rabid, but the way it acted with its partner, probably only mange.

Nice set... according to Bing, they molt at the end of Spring.
The one with the white tipped tail looks like an African or Aussie dingo dog .....
He definitely doesn't look healthy.

That is a very sick fox with the mange and should be dispatched, as it will spread through out the group. Also people can pickup the mites.

Yes, it does, but this is the US and the fact that it appears to be paired with an obvious red fox, sort of makes the identification.

I really think it is mange, in a couple of your photos there appears to be patches of bare skin which indicates mange not molting. Best to get a wildlife manager's opinion.

The female fox is called a vixen while the young are usually referred to as kits. I’ve a had a family of 5 in my backyard for about a week until they started to disperse. Now at most we may see one or two. On June 20 I posted “A family of foxes” and on June 21 I posted “Foxes #2”
