I Flew many time in a C47 while I was stationed at Shaw AFB in South Carolina in 1966-69 - Tail # was 49276 - don't have any idea why I remember that - also flew in a C47 while stationed in South Korea. I wonder if there are any still in active service - probably not.

There are none left in active service in any first world countries. I believe some were still being used by various militaries in the 1980’s and maybe early 90’s in Africa.
Sometime around 2010 I saw a converted
C-47/DC-3 (turbine engines) in Fairbanks, Alaska. If I remember correctly it had Argentina markings (can’t remember if military) on it and it was a research aircraft (likely Polar, Antarctic/arctic).
